  • Practical radio training seminar class E

Three persons are sitting around a table with a transceiver. One person is holding a handset and speaking.

Yesterday we had our practical shortwave training for the class E seminar. For reasons of space, this had to take place in two groups and in front of the doors of our shack. In the hall in front of our door, we set up a portable station with a table, battery and radio (Yaesu FT-891) and connected our HF beam. Together with Ronny, DG2RON, as a remote station, we were able to establish a good connection to Berlin in the 40m band with approx. 50W. This allowed all participants to gain their first practical radio experience on shortwave.

We thank Ronny again for his time and effort and hope, that all participants could gain helpful experiences.

  • Cleaning campaign on the 10th of May

Last Saturday, we continued our large-scale clean-up campaign. We spent a whole day disposing of old cables that had become unusable and other garbage, and started to redesign the interior of the shack. The old cupboard, which could no longer be locked, was removed and a rack, which will contain the remote-controlled technology in the future, was built. At lunchtime, we enjoyed a barbecue together and the beautiful weather.

We thank everyone who participated. We plan to continue our campaign on our next meetup Wednesday next week.

  • Participation in the FORUM Day of Open Door

On the 8th of May between 3 and 6 pm the FORUM Day of Open Door was happening, in which we participated. There was an interview round and we had the chance to present our course to the participants.

We could lead several interesting discussions and hope, that we were able to create interest in amateur radio and our university group. Anyone who's interested is always welcome to join our regular meetings, as announced on our website. The program can be found on the FORUM's website here .
