Test of a QO-100 station

At our meeting last Tuesday we tested the QO-100 station of one of our members.

On the roof of our station we put up a parabolic antenne (a 50 cm satellite dish) with a tripod facing south. The active part of the antenna system consists on the RX side of a modified satellite LNB that is being fed from a waveguide, and the 13 cm TX antenna is mounted coaxially to it. As no TX capable SDR was available, we focused our efforts on testing the RX side.

With a HackRF we were successfully able - after some effort - to receive SSB and CW signals with good SNR.

In the future we wish to put effort into building a permanent QO-100 station with a larger dish to be able to have receive and transmit capabilities at our station.
